Who am I + why I created this course?
Hi I’m Karen!
I’m a fashion designer, fashion illustrator, and surface pattern designer. And I’ve worked in the fashion industry for almost 10 years, it all started right before I graduated from industrial design and a little after I began teaching myself all things fashion. During all these years I’ve worked with dozens of fashion brands + people to create their fashion collections + illustrations + patterns, and now I’m bringing my own collections to life over www.imkarenavila.com
I created the Fashion School and this course because I believe that life is better when you do fulfilling and meaningful work that feeds your heart. Because I know how hard it is to find the right tools and resources to learn how to use watercolors to create fashion illustrations when you’re teaching yourself. And, because I’m passionate about bringing all that you need + help you to set yourself up for success.
You deserve to do what you love, and to be proud + confident about what you create, why not start today?
Frequently Asked Questions
1 | Will this course continue to be updated? And will I get free access to future versions?
Yes! This will be updated on a regular basis. Once you are enrolled, all future versions are free at no cost.
2 | How often should I work on it?
Naturally, the more you work the faster you go. But, I designed this course so you take one lesson per day, so it is easy and attainable for you.
Each video takes less than 12 minutes to watch, and the exercises take around 15-40 minutes each. So, if you can spend 30-60 minutes a day you’ll be on your way.
Nevertheless, remember this is a self-paced course, so you are allowed to take the time that you need, or follow as many lessons as you want or can per day.
The course’s curriculum is a proven plan for you to learn, practice, and improve during every step of the way.
3 | Will this course work for someone who is a beginner?
Absolutely.
It is desirable that you already know fashion drawing because we won’t cover how to draw figures, faces, or garments. For that, I have a couple of super affordable courses that you might love: Fashion Drawing Basics, and Fashion Illustration for Beginners.
In Watercolors for Fashion Illustration for Beginners, we are going to start covering the very basics, and then gradually move to learning all you need to create a lovely fashion illustration: painting skin, eyes, noses, mouths, garments and accessories.
4 | How old should I be?
It doesn’t matter.
You can be in your late twenties, in your teens, in your forties, in your whatever…
Your passion and talent are there, and they don’t care about your age.
5 | What tools do I need?
Internet connection is required to access the Student’s Site, and watch the videos and lessons
And, in the course, there’s one lesson in which I talk about the materials and supplies you need, and you can download a printable to create your own tools-to-purchase list such as watercolors, paper, tape, brushes, and others.
